How much does Explain My Build cost?

Two tiers, no fine print. The tools that help you operate and fix your own app are free. The end-user guide and the sharing around it are paid. That's the whole model.

Cancel anytime. The paid plan is month-to-month. The founding price of $12/month is for the first 100 people; after that it's $19/month.

What's free, and is it actually useful?

The free tier is genuinely useful on its own — it's not a crippled trial. It gives you the two artifacts that help you, the founder, understand and run your app:

• The founder runbook — a plain-English map of how your app is wired, what each part does, and how to operate and extend it. Every claim cited to your real code. See what a founder runbook is.

If all you need is to understand your own app and fix what's broken, you may never need to pay. That's by design — see how it works.

What does the $19 (or $12 founding) plan add?

It adds the end-user guide and everything you need to get it in front of your users. Specifically:

• The end-user guide — plain-language help written for the people who use your app, generated from your actual code (not a screen recording). This is the wedge nobody else offers — see end-user vs developer docs.
• A share link with an access code — send your guide to users behind a simple gate.
• An in-app Help widget — embed the guide inside your app so users get help where they are.
• A portable export — take your guide with you in a portable format; no lock-in.

The founding price of $12/month is reserved for the first 100 people; after that the price is $19/month. Either way, you can cancel anytime.

Why is the founder toolset free?

Because helping you understand your own app is the honest way to earn the paid upgrade. The runbook and fix-list solve the founder's private problem — "I don't understand what I shipped" — without a paywall. If they earn your trust, the end-user guide is the natural next step when you're ready to help your users.

We'd rather you get real value free and upgrade because it's worth it than gate the basics and lose you. And to be plain about the boundaries: Explain My Build reads code, it's not a live security test, and a human should review before you publish. See limitations.
