These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Explain My Build (the "Service"), operated by [LEGAL ENTITY — e.g. DenialHelp, LLC — to confirm] ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What the Service is

Explain My Build reads an application you built and generates plain-English documentation from it: a private founder runbook and a fix-list (free), and a public users' guide plus sharing and export features (paid). The Service is local-first: your source code and files are read on your own machine or in your own browser and are not uploaded to us. To write the guides, the Service sends a small, de-identified summary derived from your app to the AI provider you choose using your own API key. De-identification is provided as a convenience and is not a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement; you are responsible for reviewing all output before relying on or publishing it.

2. Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 16 years old and able to form a binding contract. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your access credentials and license secure.

3. The card on file, upgrades & billing

When you sign up we may securely save a payment method with our payment processor (Stripe) without charging it ("card on file"). We charge nothing unless and until you choose to upgrade to a paid plan.

When you upgrade, you authorize us to charge your saved payment method the then-current plan price (shown to you at the point of upgrade) on a recurring monthly basis until you cancel. Prices are shown at checkout; a limited-time "founding" price, if offered, applies only while available. Prices are exclusive of any applicable taxes, which may be added.

4. Cancellation

You may cancel a paid plan at any time through the billing portal linked from your account. On cancellation your paid features remain active until the end of the current billing period, after which you will not be charged again. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

5. Your content and output

You retain all rights to your code, your app, and the guides the Service generates for you. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the generated guides and for reviewing them before publishing them or providing them to your users. The Service may produce errors or omissions; do not rely on it as your sole source of truth, and do not use it as your sole compliance, security, legal, or medical control.

6. Third-party AI and services

You bring your own AI provider and API key (e.g. Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or a local model). Your use of that provider is governed by their terms and privacy policy, and the de-identified summary the Service sends is processed by them, not us. We also use Stripe for payments and Cloudflare for content delivery.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to violate the law, infringe others' rights, or attempt to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the Service or its licensing. The Service is proprietary; you may not redistribute it.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that generated guides are accurate, complete, or fit for any particular use.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted here with an updated date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.

11. Governing law
